Faith
Faith Taught Me,
Whether Hymn, Ballad, or Lullaby,
It’s just another sort of Song.
Whether Dead, Displaced, or a severed Bond,
It’s just another sort of Gone.
So, jettison the dead weight,
Then contemplate,
That inaction leads to where only the dead wait.
And whether apology or repentance,
It’s all just another sorry state.
Faith Taught Me,
That while it wasn’t me who pierced the prophet with the pike,
The Flood cares little for fault as it breaches the dikes.
So let loose the levy,
Find peace in a current, unsteady.
Dive in, learn to swim.
Never let Fate win.
Faith Taught Me,
God has more than one name.
That the boy I hated and the man I want to be,
Are one in the same.
So, I burn away the excess,
Clean the mess,
Until only the best of me remains.
Faith Taught Me,
I’m an example to my Sisters and Brothers,
On how to escape the slow martyrdom of living for others.
So, while that could have been the end,
Then and There,
I’d gladly learn my lesson again,
That the real me bleeds from this pen,
No matter When or Where.
